Scratching Posts — More Than One
Scratching is not bad behavior. It is a biological necessity.

Many cats are chronically under hydrated because they have a natural instinct to distrust still, stagnant water. In the wild, still water can be contaminated. Running water is fresh and safe.
A water fountain solves this instantly. The constant movement makes the water more appealing and most cats who previously ignored their water bowl start drinking consistently once a fountain is introduced.
Better hydration means healthier kidneys, better digestion, and reduced risk of urinary tract issues that are incredibly common in cats — especially males.

Catnip Toys
Not every cat responds to catnip — the sensitivity is genetic and about thirty percent of cats simply do not react to it. But for the seventy percent that do, catnip toys are a brilliant tool.

A Reliable Carrier
Nobody thinks about this one until they desperately need it.
A good cat carrier is essential for vet visits, travel, and emergencies. A bad carrier, or no carrier at all, turns these already stressful situations into complete chaos.
The best approach is to leave the carrier out in your home permanently with a comfortable blanket inside. When the carrier is always present and associated with comfort rather than only appearing before stressful trips, cats become far less anxious about entering it.
